Providence began in 1856 when Mother Joseph and four Sisters of Providence established hospitals, schools, and orphanages in the Northwest. The company is a not-for-profit faith-based health care system that operates hospitals, medical clinics, and a broad range of health and social services across Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. Providence also includes affiliated medical groups, virtual care, urgent care, and health plan services, supporting a wide health care network across the western United States.
