Brian Eugene (B.E.) York was an engineer who traveled the east coast throughout the 1920s inspecting everything from bridges to amusement park rides. His job kept him on the road for long periods of time—missing the births of two of his three children as a result. By 1930, he knew something had to change. ? In order to spend more time with his family, B.E. York opened the York Insurance Agency in the Washington Trust Building on Washington, Pennsylvania’s Main Street. In 1933, this office evolved into the York Realty Agency. True to its origins, York Realty has stayed within the family for three generations.
