Volkstuin has a long history of serving Austell. Dating back to the early 1900’s, Austell Swing and Ladder occupied the property that is present day Volkstuin. Austell Cabinet Company followed in the place of Swing and Ladder. The company’s owner, John Collar, would go on to serve as Austell’s Mayor from 1982-1989.
