DISH Network Corporation is a U.S.-based satellite television and telecommunications provider founded in 1980 as EchoStar Communications by Charlie Ergen, Candy Ergen, and Jim DeFranco. Over time, the company expanded from distributing satellite equipment to launching subscription television services under the DISH Network brand in 1996. DISH later pursued strategic initiatives including the development of digital video technologies, IPTV offerings, and the launch of Sling TV, an over-the-top streaming service. The company expanded its wireless footprint with the acquisition of Boost Mobile in 2020 and has aimed to build a national 5G network. In 2023, DISH merged back into EchoStar, making it a wholly owned subsidiary of its long-time parent organization. DISH operates facilities across several U.S. locations, including offices in Englewood, Denver, Littleton, and Phoenix, supporting its television, streaming, and wireless operations. The company is privately held through its parent EchoStar.
