About the Property
Situated on heavily traveled N. Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield, this center enjoys a premier location in the heart of the city's business district, between Market Street and Durwood Stephenson Parkway. A major renovation and expansion project that commenced in April 2023 has been successfully completed. The project added approximately 3,000 square feet to the existing 7,500-square-foot building, while the original structure was completely refaced to create a cohesive, modern appearance. In addition, a new 5,684-square-foot building was constructed adjacent to the expanded center, set back from the main structure to enhance site functionality and visibility. As part of the redevelopment, Enterprise Rent-A-Car relocated from a standalone building formerly situated in front of the property—which was subsequently demolished—to the Waddle Drive end-cap space. Batteries Plus opened its new location in the expansion end cap in February 2025 and Hotworx is coming to the center in late 2026. This redevelopment delivers much-needed retail and small office space to the Smithfield market, helping meet growing demand driven by Johnston County's continued population and economic growth.
