Developer Dalcour Holdings LLC plans to build the 470-unit, four-story apartment project. “This property, for a while, has been the hole in a doughnut,” Allen Community Development director Marc Kurbansade said at a city council meeting to approve the apartments. “It’s going to provide that center some activation. “The folks that own the property on this site are excited to see this come through,” he said. “You want to create a space here where people want to be — that’s what’s missing.” The planned apartments will face an existing plaza area and include improvements to a nearby water feature. Along with the standard rental units, the development will include 30 “retail-ready” apartment spaces. “These are two-story live-work units,” Kurbansade said. The Brass Tap pub and Japanese and Mexican restaurants are within walking distance of the new apartment project. “We are very positive about this urban residential project,” said Dalcour Holdings representative Ron Murff. “We intend to deliver a high-quality project that will help activate this overall development and bring some life and activity.“We believe this will help finish out this shopping center.” Construction on the apartments is set to begin in early or mid-2020.
