Calthorpe Estates is a family-owned property investor, developer, and landowner managing a 1,600-acre mixed-use estate in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The estate was originally acquired in 1717 by London merchant Sir Richard Gough and has been owned by the Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe family for over 300 years. The company was formally incorporated in 2007 as Calthorpe Estates Limited. The estate is located one mile from Birmingham city centre and is home to commercial, medical, educational, residential, leisure, and lifestyle communities. The company focuses on long-term placemaking and urban regeneration, with a core strategy centered on developing mixed-use environments across office, retail, residential, student housing, medical, education, leisure, and dining sectors. A commercialisation masterplan was formulated in 1959, leading to office park development in the 1960s-70s along Hagley Road. The estate includes one of the UK's largest urban conservation areas and features more than 3,000 houses subject to the Calthorpe Estate Scheme of Management following the Leasehold Reform Act 1967.
